Periodontal Therapy *
Periodontal cleanings, also known as scaling and root planing, are specialized deep cleanings used to treat gum disease. If you have signs of periodontal disease—like bleeding gums, gum recession, or deep pockets around the teeth—this treatment helps stop the progression and protect your oral health.
What to Expect:
Scaling removes plaque and tartar from above and below the gumline.
Root planing smooths the root surfaces to help guns reattach to the teeth.
May be done over multiple visits and often with local anesthesia for comfort.
In some cases, antibiotics or other therapies may be recommended.
Why It’s Important:
Gum disease doesn’t just affect your mouth—it’s linked to overall health issues like heart disease and diabetes. Periodontal cleanings help reduce inflammation, prevent tooth loss, and support healthier gums.
If you’ve been diagnosed with gum disease, regular periodontal maintenance visit (typically every 3-4 months) are key to keeping it under control.
